Celebration of Life services for Mary Matthews, 86, will be held 3:30 p.m., Monday, May 10, 2010 at First Baptist Church of Princeton, Princeton, LA with Brother Darrell W. Cooper officiating. Interment will follow in the Haughton Cemetery, Haughton, LA. The family will be receiving friends Monday, May 10, 2010 from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at First Baptist Church of Princeton.
Mrs. Mary was born September 19, 1923 in El Dorado, AR to the late Elmer Bud and Nancy Luda Black Culpepper and was called home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ May 6, 2010 at her residence. Mrs. Mary was a member of First Baptist Church of Princeton, where she enjoyed working in the nursery. She loved spending time with her family and many dogs, working in her flower garden, and cooking. Mrs. Mary will be remembered most by those who knew her best as the kind of person that never met a stranger, a compassionate person towards all of God’s creatures, and her special generosity towards others.
Mrs. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: Roy and Troy, two sisters: Virginia and Patty Jane, and two sons: Paul and Johnny. Left to cherish her memories and tell her story will be her two sons: Kenneth C. Matthews, Jr. and wife Patty, and C. R. Matthews, her two daughters: Mary V. Reed and husband Johnny V.Reed, and Anita Staton and husband Gary M. Staton Sr., many grand, great, and great-great-grandchildren, along with numerous extended relatives and many great friends.
The family wishes to express a special thanks to hospice and all of Mrs. Mary’s caregivers during her time of need.
