Pearl was born in Owensboro, Kentucky on July 12, 1924, to Robert Lee and Mary Lee Johnson who predecease her. She had no brothers or sisters, but many aunts, uncles, and cousins, all of which have predeceased her.
Pearl was predeceased by her husband of 36 years, Peter F. Weil. She was also predeceased by her oldest son, Lee Roy; and first son-in-law, Charlie Clayton Mann.
Pearl is survived by her daughters, Paula Wilkes and husband Ray, and Debra Mumaw and husband Jesse; and by her son, Galen Futtrell and wife Diane; as well as her granddaughters, Ronda Futtrell, Barbra Mims and husband Blake, and Ann Mumaw. She is also survived by her grandson, Charles Adam Mann; as well as her great-granddaughters, Brooklyne Marie Mims and Charlie Bryn Mims; and a host of other grand and great-grandchildren.
Our mama was a consummate mother, wife, and homemaker. She loved to crochet and over the years, crocheted a variety of doilies, bedspreads, blankets, as well has knitted many things for her family and friends. Pearl enjoyed sharing stories of her life and what it was like to live her life during the Great Depression; most times, stories were told over a game of Rummy and they never became tiresome!
Mama always had an unwavering faith in God. She was a member of Stockwell Road Missionary Baptist Church of Bossier City, Louisiana; she loved her Lord and read her Bible daily without fail. Not a day goes by that we are not thankful for her mentorship in teaching her children about the love of Jesus Christ.
Pearl made her home with her daughter, Paula, for 17 years, but a fall resulted in her having to reside at Pilgrim Manor in Bossier City for her last 3 years. The family gives gratitude to the LPNs and CNAs who took such good care of her. Mama’s smile was infectious and she’s missed so very much.
The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 5-7 p.m. at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home, Haughton, Louisiana. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 30, 2016, at Stockwell Road Missionary Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Nathan Luellen. Entombment will follow in Hill Crest Memorial Mausoleum.
