

The music world lost a much loved and respected member of its community with the death of singer/songwriter Max DuBose, a/k/a Vo’kome Hó’nehe August 17, 2019. Max is the #1 Americana Artist on ReverbNation and his original music is distributed on sites such as Amazon, iTunes and Spotify.
While awaiting the release of his 7th album, Max played his final set with members of his band (Max DuBose and the Scandalous Rogues) at the Woodstock 50th reunion in New York. Following the performance, Max passed away peacefully in his sleep.
Max began his musical journey in his hometown, Shreveport, La. Max attended Southern Arkansas University on athletic scholarship prior to serving in the U.S. Navy. Following his military service, Max worked with at risk youth for a number of years and earned both his Bachelor’s and Master’s of Science degrees in psychology at Texas A&M University. While completing his degrees, Max was awarded academic scholarship, was placed on the Dean’s list, and was inducted into the National Honor Society.
Max was born September 26, 1960 in Texas City, Texas to R.T. and Edith DuBose. He is survived by his son Chad, 3 grandchildren Ford, Greyson, and Greer; his brothers Rodney and Mike; his sisters Nita and Sandi; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Max was a resident of Delray Beach, Florida. Max’s band members are planning to establish a foundation to honor his music and his memory.
Graveside services are scheduled for Sunday, October 27, 2019, 12:15 PM, at Hill Crest Cemetery. Following the graveside services, the Max DuBose Life Celebration and musicians’ tribute, ‘For the Love of Max’, is planned at Red River Brewing, 1200 Marshall St., Shreveport, La from 1:00 PM – 5:00PM on Sunday, October 27, 2019. Family and friends are invited.
