Melissa was born January 26, 1989, in Acworth, Georgia to James and Donna Clayton.
She attended Northwood High School, and she continued her education at Northwestern State University where she graduated in 2012 with a degree in Nursing. She would go on to have a career as a nurse specializing in home health care.
Of utmost importance to Melissa was her relationship with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She accepted Him on August 3, 1997, and her relationship with Christ was a guiding force throughout her entire life. She was an active member of Westlake Baptist Church as a teen and Simple Church as an adult.
Melissa’s life was one filled with music. She was a gifted vocalist who provided joy to anyone who heard her. Whether in the church, in her band, Magnolia Mae, or simply sitting in the kitchen with her family and friends, a song never far from her lips.
Melissa was a light in the life of everyone she met. She came to the world with love and empathy, no matter how dark or difficult the path in front of her. She was beloved by a community too large to be numbered.
Melissa is survived by her mother and father, James and Donna, her two brothers, James and Tim, her sister, Jennifer, her husband, John, and her two children, Rhett and Georgia Mae.
Special thanks from the family go to Melissa’s employer, Primestar Home Health along with the BeauxJax Craft House, Se7enth Tap Brewing Project, and all the people whose lives she touched for their time, thoughts, prayers and the resources provided.
