Melissa graduated from Airline High School and received a Master’s Degree plus 30 from Louisiana State University of Shreveport. She was married to John Lewis, Jr. on December 30, 1982. Melissa had a career in Education for Benton Middle School and Benton High School for forty years.
Melissa’s passion first and foremost was for her family, her son was her happiest achievement, and she found life relaxing by reading and watching Hallmark Christmas movies in July.
Melissa is survived by her husband, John Lewis, Jr.; son, John Tyler Lewis and wife Alysia Allyn Lewis; and grandson, Tristan Allen Lewis.
Funeral service will be at 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at Saint Jude Catholic Church, 4700 Palmetto Rd., Benton, LA 71006.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
