Time to Be Born
Michael Dwain Barger was born on October 6, 1954, in Omaha, NE. He was the second oldest of four children born to Dwain and Virginia Barger. Military life brought his family to Bossier City, LA. He was born again when he accepted Jesus as his Savior in 1986 at Shady Grove Baptist Church.
A Time to Live
Mike graduated from Parkway High School in 1972, and immediately joined the Air Force. He was honorably discharged in 1976 and returned to Bossier City. He graduated from Bossier Parish Community College with a business degree, and eventually landed his job at Overton Brooks VA Medical Center where he worked for 34 years and retired in 2020. He also worked as a real estate agent for 15 years.
A Time to Love
Mike met the love of his life, Jo Ann, in October of 1977, and they were married on August 5, 1978. They were blessed to spend 42 loving years together and raise two children. Mike enjoyed traveling, going on cruises with family and friends, riding his motorcycle, and made painting look like an art.
A Time to Die
Mike passed away suddenly from this life on Saturday, February 20, 2021, and stepped into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dwain and Virginia Richards Barger, and his sister, Teri Masu.
A Time to Remember
Mike is survived by his wife of 42 years, Jo Ann Davlin Barger; daughter, Christie Moore and husband, Casey; son, Scott Barger and wife, Jill; brother, Steve Barger and wife, Sandra; sister, Lori Bates and husband, Steve; grandchildren, Guyton Moore, Holt Asher Moore, Brigham Barger, and Ellie Barger; a host of nieces, nephews, and friends; and two Chihuahua furbabies, Razzle Dazzle and Ritzie Bitzie.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 26, 2021 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel, 601 Hwy 80, Haughton, Louisiana. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel, 601 Hwy 80, Haughton, Louisiana.
Pallbearers will be his “favorite” nephews: Jason Attaway, Kevin Attaway, Shaun Inman, Jimbo Davlin, Brian Davlin, Joel Davlin, Clint Davlin and Kyle Davlin.
