He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era and retired from the City of Shreveport as a public works inspector following 20 years of service.
Michael was an avid fan of the New Orleans Saints, LSU, and UConn Women's Basketball. He was the Grandmaster of the Professional Disc Golf Association and was local Senior Olympics medal winner.
He was preceded in death by his parents: John and Maria Yermalinskya Czerniecki; twin sister, Rose Scutt and sister, Antonnia Czerniecki.
Those left to cherish his memory are: wife, Jeannette Czerniecki, daughters, Tonya Schaan (Jared), and Necia Czerniecki; grandsons, Sebastian Schaan and Nathaniel Jude Czerniecki.
The family expresses special thanks to Bristol Hospice, especially Jodi and Q. as well as Nurse Brittany at Willis Knighton Bossier.
The family will receive friends Thursday, March 19 from 5 until 6 p.m. at Hill Crest Funeral Home in Haughton, Louisiana.
Graveside services will be conducted at 10 am, Friday, March 20th at Hill Crest Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: the Port City Cat Rescue or The Fellowship United Methodist Church Food Pantry.
