Celebration of life service for Mike Hollis will be held at First Baptist Church of Haughton on January 5th, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. Brother Gevan Spinney and Brother Melvin Prothro will be officiating the service. Visitation will be held at First Baptist Church of Haughton on January 4, 2011 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Interment will be at Hill Crest Funeral Home & Memorial Park.

Mike Hollis was an active member of First Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School and served as a deacon for 24 years. He also served as an alderman for the town of Haughton for the past 18 years. He enjoyed the outdoors and spent many summers camping and canoeing with family and friends. Mike also loved sports. He was a member of the 1969-1970 Haughton High School State Championship Basketball team, and he was an All District/All State high school basketball player.

Mike is preceded in death by his son, Matthew Brent Hollis.

Mike is survived by his wife of 38 years, Janice; his son, Brian and his wife Pam; his son, Josh and his fiancee Emily McConathy; his father, David; his mother, Freda and her husband Curtis Hinze; his sister, Nancy Doerner; his brother, Steve and his wife Terri; his brother, Ted and his wife Stephanie; and his grandchildren, Ashley and Matthew.

The pallbearers will be: Louis Covington, Larry Small, Ken Mason, James Sullivan, Bill Burris, Rick Wolfe, Bryan Mitchell, Royce Green, Buster Constanzi, and David Rigsby.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Haughton Building Fund.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the members of the church and Odyssey Hospice for taking such good care of them during Mike's illness.
