As an outstanding lineman, he participated in local and International Lineman’s Rodeos winning numerous individual and team awards annually for several years. In 2000, Mike joined the Tulsa Region with AEP and furthered his career as a Technical Trainer. He continued to live in Haughton with this position. He was able to further gain more knowledge, respect, and friendships. In 2007 Mike had the opportunity to transfer back to the Shreveport Region and advance within the AEP/SWEPCO corporation as Supervisor of Distribution in Shreveport. Mike will be known as an outstanding professional supervisor, who was innovative and open to change. He could handle any situation whether in the office, with the public, or even technical and mechanical issues. Mike was a team player who will forever be known just when mentioning his name.
Even though his life may seem too short to many, but those who knew Mike knew he enjoyed life to the fullest. He gave everything 100% whether it was riding horses, hunting, fishing, or even playing golf. His favorite movie was Lonesome Dove. Mike shared many good laughs with so many friends by reciting lines from the movie. Watching Spongbob Squarepants and shooting 22’s with his children was a favorite pastime that will never be forgotten. Weekends fishing with his father, riding horses, early morning hunts, campfires and listening to the dogs run deer were Mike’s best times. Mike was a true cowboy. He did not dress or act to impress other people but for himself. If you knew Mike then you knew he had his Wrangler jeans, Wrangler shirts, Carhartts, his “chew”, a 4-wheel drive truck, traditional country music, and his dog Jasper.
