Services honoring beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Monique Winifred Berthet James will be held Friday July 29, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the Hill Crest Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Stephen Kim officiationg. Interment will follow in Hill Crest Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the Hill Crest Funeral Home.
Monique was born in Shanghai, China on March 16, 1928 and passed away on July 27, 2011 at her home surrounded by her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents John Edward and Barbara Berthet; her sister, Hilda Bonn and her brother Freddie Berthet.
She is survived by her husband Frank L. James,Jr.; her daughters, Dixie Ishler and her husband Jerry, Barbara James and her husband Rick Freeman, Patty Slaughter and her husband Jimmy; and Monique Beckius and her husband Tim. She is survived
by her brothers, Val Pickel and wife Bella, Eugene Pickel and wife Violet, and George Pickel and wife Virginia; grandchildren Mark Ishler and his wife Angie; Melissa Ishler, Erin Echterhoff and her husband Lal, Nathan Slaughter and his wife Julie, Jeremy Slaughter and his wife Sarah, Amy Gauthier and her husband Kurt, and Megan Crews and her husband Rodney. She is also survived by her great grandchildren, Christian, Erica and her husband Josh, Taylor, Christopher, Lal,Jr., Jacob, Emily, Riley, Aidan, Cooper, Tanner, and Maxwell, and great great granddaughter Faith.
"Nanny" also had a very special place for the other children that came into her life that she adopted in her heart Lamar, Kathy, Patricia, Debra, and Jeff.
Monique "Nanny" lived life to the fullest and set a wonderful example for living each day happily and with a positive spirit. "Nanny" loved her family dearly and would always have a special treat for her grandchildren or any of her family that visited. "Nanny" will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, which was a cause that was very special to Monique.
The family would like to thank Harmony Life Hospice for their warm and loving care of our mother. The family would like to send a special thanks to Julie, Theresa, Andrew, Deborah, Sharon, and to Dr. Stephen and Patty Kim.
