Nelda "Ruth" McLaren

BOSSIER CITY, LA – Ruth would like to let you know her work here is done she received a call, a sort of an offer you can’t refuse, for an appointment from which she will not be returning. This assignment comes with a huge sign-on bonus, a reunion with family and friends she has not seen in a long time. She asked me to say “give everyone my love and save some for yourself”.

Nelda “Ruth” McLaren, 83, died on Monday, April 24, 2017 at 10:28 p.m. at Promise Hospital with her family by her side. Ruth was born on October 27, 1933 in Choudrant, Louisiana to Marshall and Cora Coburn. The youngest of 5 siblings, her sister, Virgi Lee Owen; brothers, David Coburn, Jr., Blaine Coburn and Jessie Coburn - wife Teresa Coburn. Married for 47 years Ruth and William “Bill” raised their 3 dear children, Janet Plaisted and husband William Plaisted, Marshall McLaren and wife Soundavan McLaren, and Marsha McLaren and husband Tony Armenio.

Ruth enjoyed her many grandchildren, Jackie Chandler, Heather Coburn, William Picnic, Christopher Picnic, Ashley Watts, Jeffery McLaren, Jamie Cavanugh, Steven Woods, Jr., Stephanie Ebling, Crystal Thurman, Shaelynn Kennedy, Kimberly Luang, Anthony Luang, April Luang, Angela Luang; 26 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ruth was an Angel on earth, with a heart of gold and truly the backbone for her family, she never missed a birthday and always called to check on you. She had a wall dedicated to photos of family, she loved her family deeper than anyone, it’s no wonder she was called home.

Services for Ruth will be held at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. Billy Pierce officiating. Visitation will be held at Hill Crest Funeral Home on Monday, May 1, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Honoring Ruth as pallbearers will be Darryl Picnic, Christopher Picnic, Jeffery McLaren, David Colvin, Jamie Cavanaugh and Jeff Cavanaugh.
