

Nellie Fern Cooper, age 82, of Elm Grove, Louisiana passed away on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at her home in Elm Grove, Louisiana. Nellie was born May 31, 1942, in Pottawatomie County, Oklahoma to Johnnie Averece Tison and Lillian Hogue Tison.
Nellie was a devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished grandmother. She dedicated her life to her family as a stay-at-home mom, nurturing and supporting her loved ones with unwavering love and care.
She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, always cherishing the moments shared with loved ones. Nellie had a passion for photos, sewing and working with plastic canvas while listening to country music. Her life was devoted to caring for others, always putting their needs before her own. Thoughtful, selfless, and a wonderful cook (despite her humble claims), she was known for creating meals and desserts that would stick to your ribs. Her generous spirit, compassionate heart, and warmth she shared will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Nellie is survived by her husband Joe Cooper of Elm Grove, Louisiana; daughters, LaGena Wilson, husband Mike of Winnsboro, Texas and Sherri Harper, husband Steve of Chandler, Texas; son Joe Allen Cooper, wife Linzy of Elm Grove, Louisiana; grandchildren, Misty, Paul, Kim, Nicole, Justin, Ashley, and McKenzie; great grandchildren, Natalie, Carter, Easton, Madison, Hudson, Lane, Katie,Caleb, Mason, Lilly, Dalton, Mitchell, and Harper; great great grandson, Chandler; siblings, Louise Boyd of Moore, Oklahoma, Linda Roberts of Tecumseh, Oklahoma, Carolyn Effinger, husband Charles of Tecumseh, Oklahoma and Roger Tison, wife Brenda of Bartlesville, Oklahoma along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Johnnie Averece Tison and Lillian Hogue Tison; brothers Ora Tison and John Tison; sister, Thelma Trout, and grandson William Charles Wilson.
A visitation for Nellie will be held Saturday, April 26, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home, 601 US-80, Haughton, Louisiana 71037. Following the visitation, a service will be held at 2:00 PM at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel with James E. Hartsell officiating.
