Pat is survived by her children, Adrian K. Winham and wife, Toni Speed-Winham of Blanchard, LA; George Kevin Winham and wife, Earlene (Leadaman) Winham of Plain Dealing, LA; and Karla (Winham) Haas and husband, Jeremy Haas of Benton, LA; her grandchildren, Andrew K. Winham and wife, Amberly (Percival) Winham of Stonewall, LA; Daniel Salazar, and Kody Robinson, of Benton, LA; and Zachary Jarrell of Plain Dealing. Sister, Deletha (Wiese) Phillips, Brother, Dewayne H. Wiese and wife Nancy H Weise and many nieces and nephews all of San Angelo, Texas
She is preceded in death by her husband, George Keith Winham; her parents, Karl H. Weise and O. Faye Weise both of San Angelo, Texas.
Pat was born on February 8th, 1938 in San Angelo, Texas to Karl and Faye Weise and lived in Wall, TX with her sister and brother on the family farm. She graduated Wall High School in 1956 (the first graduating class of the High School) and went to Shannon Memorial Nursing School where she completed her nursing studies in 1959. While in nursing school she met George Winham, an USAF airman who was stationed at Goodfellow Air Base in San Angelo. They were married in November 1959. They resided in San Angelo for a short time before moving to Van Horn, TX to be with family.
Pat had a full and illustrious nursing career. From Reeves County Hospital, in Pecos, TX, the family moved in 1965 to Alexandria, LA, where she soon became Director of Nursing at Pilgrim Manor Nursing Home in Pineville, LA. From Pilgrim Manor, she moved to the Huey P. Long Memorial Hospital, also in Pineville, and became an operating room nurse. Her husband George soon followed in her footsteps, becoming a registered nurse and joining her in the operating room. Pat entered the nursing program at Northwestern State to further her education and to completed her BSN course work. The family moved to Bossier City in 1976 and Pat began working in the operating room at Confederate Memorial Hospital in Shreveport. In 1977 Pat embarked on a new adventure and began the Practical Nurse program with Janette Morrison at Vo-Tech in Minden. She taught there several years before moving to the Shreveport-Bossier campus where she continued to teach until she retired in 2006. During her time as a nursing instructor, she also completed a Master’s Degree in counseling from LA Tech in 1983.
The family became members of Cypress Baptist Church in 1981 where she enjoyed many friends in her church family. She became an artist and traveler in her retirement. She enjoyed many things in her life, especially her grandchildren.
The Family would like to thank Willis Knighton Bossier, Cornerstone Hospital, the staff of Garden Court, and especially Hospice of Shreveport-Bossier, Barbara Conway, Johnette Waterman, hospice nurse Kelsey and hospice aide Felicia for their comfort and support during this difficult time.
Viewing will be at Hillcrest Funeral Home in Haughton, LA Wednesday 30 May 2018 from 5 PM to 7PM. Funeral Services are scheduled for Thursday 31 May 2018, (time to be determined) at Cypress Baptist Church with a precession to the cemetery at Hillcrest Cemetery in Haughton, LA. Reverend Tommy Patton will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Pat’s life.
