Patsy Law Bean Bayless, 98, entered into the arms of her Lord on July 12, 2026. She was one of five children. Patsy and her twin sister Peggy were born to Otis and Mae Law on October 30, 1927, in Montesano, Washington. Their mother did not know she was about to have twins. Several minutes after the first baby (Peggy) was born, the doctor told Mae there was another one on the way. That surprise was Patsy. From the beginning, Patsy and Peggy were inseparable. They grew up in East Texas, graduated from New London High School in 1945, and attended business school in Tyler till 1947.
In 1949, Patsy married Hank Bean and moved to West Texas. Hank was a poet that charmed Patsy with his letters. They had two children, David and Lea. Patsy worked for 20 years as a bookkeeper. They then moved to Benson, Arizona, where Patsy was the local hospital’s office manager for 19 years. She was a Girl Scout leader and taught children’s Sunday School. Hank died in 1986 after 37 years together. Years later Patsy married David Bayless and moved to Denison, Texas. David was a long-time good family friend that made her laugh. Patsy and David were married for 17 years till David died in 2006. Patsy credited the Lord for her successful marriages to two wonderful men.
Patsy then moved to Shreveport – across the street from Peggy. Patsy and Peggy were together again. And just like when they were younger, they always dressed alike, whether they were at church, on the golf course, or any other place where they spent time. Patsy was a gift and a blessing to all who knew her. She was the most gracious, giving and fun-loving person you could know.
Patsy is survived by her grandchildren Clara Martinez, Marcos Martinez, and Patrick Bean; son-in-law Ruben Martinez; stepchildren David Bayless Jr (wife Sharon) and Brandy Hewitt (husband Stephan) and grandchildren Clanci, David III, Kyra, and Connor; and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her two children David Bean and Lea Martinez, two wonderful husbands Hank and David, three sisters Peggy, Betty, and Mary Kate, and brother Bill.
The family would like to extend special thanks to C.J. Thomas, Kim Francis, and the ladies who cared for Patsy in her last days.
Services will be Friday, July 17, 2026 at Broadmoor Baptist Church Chapel in Shreveport, Louisiana. Doctor John Sullivan will officiate. Visitation will begin at 12:00, followed by the funeral at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be at Hill Crest Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Broadmoor Baptist Church or a charity of your choice.
