Rick Mason of Bossier City, Louisiana left the building around midnight Friday Feb 10th, 2023. He always enjoyed the stage in some capacity. Rick was the "go to" lighting wizard for The Strand Theater in Shreveport, stagehand and follow spot operator for touring acts, and also travelled the world as a roadie with Van Halen. He was also an accomplished and respected stagehand for The Shreveport Symphony and various concert venues. While studying at NSU, Rick was an actor in many theater productions on the L.O.D.A. stage and was an accomplished trumpet player in the band Delta Queen. He was a natural teacher, whose enthusiasm and wisdom made a lasting impression on anyone who was lucky enough to get to know him.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents Arno and Beulah Mason and his sister Joan Howell.
He is survived by his sister Laura Baker and his nephews Greg Baker and Chris Baker and his niece Rebecca Howell, along with many wonderful friends.
He has moved on, like so many great ones, to work with what must be a spectacular band in the Everafter.
Here's to the stagehands!
"… Now roll them cases out and lift them amps
Haul them trusses down and get 'em up them ramps
'Cause when it comes to moving me
You know, you guys are the champs" (Jackson Browne).
We love you Rick, thanks for lighting up our lives!
