Services for Mr. Dayberry will begin with a Visitation between 5 & 7 PM, Monday, January 25, 2021, at Hill Crest, in Haughton; Rosary at 6:00 PM. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM, within Christ The King Catholic Church, Tuesday, January 26, 2021.
He was born in Uniontown, Kentucky on October 2, 1933 to the proud parents Joseph & Alice Dayberry.
Robert graduated from Thomas A Edison High School, 1952. Soon young Robert drafted into the U.S. Army. While in the Army, 'Bob' married to Mary Violet Whalen on June 17, 1955, Newfoundland, Canada.
Mr. Dayberry spent more than 21 years as an Explosive Ordinance Demolition expert in the military before retiring at the rank of Master Sergeant. During his time in the Military, he was awarded: the Bronze Star, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct 2 LPS, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Medal with 4 Oak Leaf Clusters, Air Force Good Conduct Medal with 4 Oak Leaf Clusters, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award.
Robert was involved with his church, Christ the King, as an RCIA teacher, an Alter server and Eucharistic Minister, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Robert enjoyed traveling with his wife Mary, in their motorhome, to her birthplace of Newfoundland, Canada. Making stops to see family in Indiana and Kentucky, being on the road for months at a time, just enjoying the retired life. Robert also enjoyed watching any western movie that was available, playing cards with family, and talking with friends over coffee and doughnuts, after church.
He is proceeded in death by his parents, Joseph A. and Alice C. Dayberry, brothers, Joseph A. Dayberry, John Richard Dayberry, sister Mary Isobelle Funkhouser and granddaughter Mary Elizabeth Borja.
He is survived by: his lovely wife of 65 years, Mary Violet Dayberry; his children, son James Patrick (wife Susan), son Robert Paul (wife Lolette), daughter Cecilia Suzanne, and daughter Alice Denise Marie (husband Nathan).
Also to cherish 'Pops' memory are: 9 Grandchildren – Catherine M. Dayberry, Robert C. Dayberry, David C. Dayberry, Jeremy A. Borja, Andrea R. Billot (Justin), Denise M. Poole, (Justin) Suzanne I. Villar, Jason Bertrand (Stepheni) and Sarah Davis (Jason); 15 Great Grandchildren - Malachi, Riley, Annabelle, Makaila, Garrett, Kinsley, Collin, Kaitie, Tristann, Tayllor, Gavin, Braydon, Sophyea, Daniel and Dominic; and his faithful dog, Max.
Also left to carry on his legacy are: sisters, Agnes Gibson and Fannie Beres (husband Ronnie) and numerous nieces and nephews.
The Dayberry family would like to thank: Brandy, Lisa, Donna, Simone, Ann, Ariel, Bettye John, Brother James and Amedisys Hospice for the great care given to Robert. We also wish to express gratitude to Fresenius Kidney Care of Bossier and to New Hope New Horizons caregivers, Brittany and Gretchen.
Lastly, with great love and affection, we are also grateful to Debra Gooden.
He will be greatly missed !
