Roland Gilbert Jemelka was born on May 24, 1949 in San Angelo, Texas. He passed away on March 30, 2026 at his home after a long illness, with his wife at his side. A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date at Cypress Baptist Church, Benton Louisiana. His friend and Sr. Adult Pastor, Tommy Patton will officiate. Interment will be at the Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery. Full military honors will be observed.
Roland joined the Air Force in 1969. He proudly served his country as a jet engine mechanic for 22 years, retiring as a Senior Master Sergeant. Each day he made sure that his aircraft was ready to fly support missions. After leaving the Air Force, he again served another 18 years with the Veterans Administration as a Data Analyst.
Roland loved his church, and was loyal to his friends. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Preceding him in death are his parents Marjorie Brazzil and Bruno Jemelka.
Left to cherish his memory are his precious wife of 23 years, Faye, his brother Ron Jemelka and his wife Eileen, and his sister Rosemarie Brazzil. He is also survived by his step family, who loved him the minute they met him. They were his family. Bruce Killion and wife Kristi, grandchildren Austin Killion, and Bailey Schlesinger, husband Griffin, and great-granddaughter Emma Grace. Karen Gutierrez and husband John, grandchildren Victoria McCleskey, Alec Gutierrez, and Haley Gutierrez.
Roland and Faye joined Cypress Baptist church in 2021. They immediately became fast members of the best SS class, that of teachers Ben Wreyford and Angela Pugh. They were pulled in to that class with loving arms, and became fast friends with all of them. They became real active with the Sr. Adults as well. Roland loved that group, and made so many friends. And he loved playing Bean Bag Baseball! He lived for Game Day at the church! Everyone that met Roland, met a friend. He loved God, his family and his country. Roland will forever be remembered in our hearts.
