Ronnie Glen Watson, Sr. of Doyline, LA, finished his race on Friday, May 23, 2026, at the age of 73, and he finished it well. Ronnie was born to Oliver and Lena Watson on July 8, 1952 in Shreveport, LA.
He graduated from Doyline High School in 1970 and spent over 40 years working in the oil field. For a time, Ronnie drove a school bus route for Doyline High School as well as driving teams to and from games where lasting connections were made with students and athletes.
Ronnie married his wife, Pam, on December 11, 1971. They were lifelong partners, best friends, and a beautiful example of what a Christ centered marriage should be.
Ronnie loved Pam unconditionally and he loved her well.
To his favorite people he was known as Papaw. His grandchildren brought a smile to his face like no one else. He was always there for each of them at a moment’s notice, no questions asked. He was one of their biggest fans and never passed up an opportunity to teach them just a little bit more about Jesus.
He was a member of West Lake Baptist Church in Doyline, LA where he served as a faithful deacon and youth director for over 40 years. He loved people and had a servant’s heart helping anyone in need. Jesus Christ was the center of his life and he loved Him with his whole heart. Matthew 25:23 says it best, “Well done, good and faithful servant!”
Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver and Lena Watson, his brother, Larry Watson and his brother-in-law, Bud Williams.
He is survived by his wife, Pam; his son Ronnie Watson, Jr. and wife, Monica; son Aaron Watson and wife, Jenna; and considered and loved like a daughter, Andrea Coburn and husband Tyler; his grandchildren, Luke Watson, Jake Watson, Ezra Watson, Oliver Watson, Samuel Coburn and Mia Coburn; great-grandchildren Grant Watson, Margaret Watson and Jack Watson. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Halda Brown and husband, Jim; sister-in-law Peggy Watson; and sister-in-law, Una Williams along with several nieces, nephews, friends and many spiritual sons and daughters who will miss him dearly.
