Rosa Edwards

Bossier City, LA- Mrs Rosa M. Edwards went home to be with her Heavenly Father on July 4, 2011. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 7, 2011 at Hill Crest Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Billy Pierce, assisted by Rev. Tommy Patton. Visitation will begin at 12:00 until the time of service. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park.

Mrs. Edwards was born February 14, 1920 in Union Parish, LA to Floyd C. and Rosa Tucker Moore. She was descended from two Union Parish pioneer families; the Tuckers and Moores. Mrs. Edwards was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John B. Edwards; son, John Harold Edwards; daughter Janice Edwards Stanton; granddaughter, Jennifer Elizabeth Owen, and her three sisters, Reba Moore, Lovie Ledbetter and Gladys Spears. She is survived by son, Charles R. Edwards and wife Frances of Haughton, LA; daughter, Rosemary E. Grider and husband Steven of Mooringsport, LA; grandchildren, Laura Ardoin, Michael Edwards, Stephen Edwards, Jessica Dearmas, Christy Fieldson, Brendan Owen, Amanda Stanton, Nicholas Stanton; seven great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.

Mrs. Edwards was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and dearly respected and loved by all. She was a faithful Christian and a founding member of Cypress Baptist Church in Benton, LA.

As a military wife she lived in many places including three years spent in Japan. In her later years she enjoyed traveling in the Continental US, as well as Hawaii, the Middle East and Europe. She was a nurse by profession and was employed at Bossier City General Hospital until retirement.
