She was preceded in death by her father, John Mitchell, and an infant daughter, Marjorie Glee, whom she has now rejoined. Rose attended and graduated from St. Vincent Academy where she lived as a teenager. Rose spent her working career with AT&T in Shreveport, formerly Western Electric. In her retirement, she worked part time at Home Depot and in Albertson’s bakery.
She is survived by sons, Derry “Champ” McCarty, wife Kay, and Lance McCarty, both of Shreveport and daughter, Lori McCarty, of Houston, TX. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren whom she loved dearly.
Her children extend a special thanks to Larry and Tina McCarty for their friendship and care of Rose through her final days. They also want to acknowledge Cornerstone Hospital’s Critical Care Unit for their care, especially Courtney.
Services for Rose will be held at Hill Crest Funeral Home & Cemetery, Haughton, LA, on Tuesday, August 30, 2011. Visitation is at 10:00 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. She will be laid to rest at Hill Crest Cemetery.
