Roy Eugene Breznik went to be with the Lord early Thursday morning, October 28th, with his loving wife of 21 years, Norma, by his side. Dr. F. Randy Harper, Pastor of Bellaire Baptist Church, will be presiding over his Home Going celebration, Sunday, October 31, 2021, 3:00 P.M. Visitation will begin at 2:00 P.M.
Roy was born on June 3rd, 1930, in Paragould, AR to his parents, Bessy and Fred Breznik. He worked in the family business selling Studebakers until Roy joined the USAF where he served three years during the Korean Conflict. After serving his country, Roy attended Centenary College and graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1956. He went on to finish his Master's Degree at Stephen F. Austin in 1957. Roy taught in the classroom for 10 years and then became Supervisor of the Learning Resources for the Bossier City School Board. Roy received many awards during his years in the school system. He was instrumental in the design of the plant and curriculum structure for the nationally famous Apollo School in Bossier City, LA. He had many articles published in the following magazines; Educational Technology, May 1968, AV Guide, May 1972, Audiovisual Instruction September, 1973, Revista (Spain) November 1974 among others. Roy also was an accomplished abstract artist and many of his paintings are displayed at the Bellaire Complex, which he donated to the church. Roy served as a Sunday school teacher and deacon at Bellaire for over 21 years.
Roy married the love of his life, Helen Whatley and had two beautiful daughters, Jill and Kelly. He is preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Bonita, Eris and Thelma, and his step-son, Jim Odum. His brother Carl is the only living sibling and lives in Florida. Left behind to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Norma Odum Breznik; his daughters, Jill Stanley and Kelly Macleod and husband Norm. He leaves behind his grandchildren, Lacey Ruybal, Jada Stanley, Taylor Sepulvado, Noah Miller and Charlie Macleod; his great grandchildren, Rylie Tomlinson, Presleigh Ruybal, Haygen Sepulvado and Ryder Sepulvado. Also left to cherish his memory is his extended family, Vicki and Randy Harper, Julie Odum, and their families.
The family wants to thank the Hospice family that took care of him in his final days at his home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Roy Breznik to the Building Fund at Bellaire Baptist Church.
