Rudolph Elvin Lyon

Bossier City, LA – Funeral services honoring the life of Rudolph (Rudy) Lyon, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 22, 2011 at St. John Bachman’s Cathedral in Shreveport, LA. Officiating will be Msgr. Carson LaCaze. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 21, 2001 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home. The rosary will be recited from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Interment with full military honors will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park in Haughton, LA.

Rudy passed away on September 18, 2011 at Cornerstone Hospital of Bossier City. He is a native of Laurel, Mississippi, son of Lou and Della Lyon. He proudly served in the USAF for 20 years and retired as Chief Master Sergeant. He served during the Korean War and World War II. Rudy also received the Air Force Commendation Metal.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Carl, Doyle, L.T., Lester and Tut Lyon, sisters; Thelma Ousley and Lillian Hawkins, and late wives; Mildred Waites and Mabel Meshell.

Left to cherish his life are his loving wife, Ruby Meshell Turner, two daughters; Cecelia Lyon Forrest of Eugene, OR and Linda Lyon wheeler of Longview, TX, four step daughters; Carolyn Pikus of DeQuincy, LA, Pat Turner Nichols of Keatchie, LA, Brenda Turner Faust of Bossier City, LA, Sandy Turner Spears of Frierson, LA, one step son; Richard Turner of Shreveport, LA, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of lifelong friends. He was loved and admired by all who knew him.

Honoring Rudy as pallbearers will be The United States Air Force for his years of dedicated service and patriotism.

The family would like to express our sincere appreciation to the staff of Cornerstone Hospital in Bossier City, LA, Dr. Zabaneh, Dr. Tommy Brown and their entire staff, for the wonderful and compassionate care given to him the last days of his life.
