Russell "Buddy" Christ

Services will be held to celebrate the life of Russell “Buddy” Wayne Christ at 11:00 am on Thursday, August 24, 2023 with Dr. Gevan Spinney of First Baptist Haughton officiating. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends for visitation beginning at 10:00 am until service time.

Buddy was born on November 28, 1946 in Shreveport, LA to Leo and Christine Gardner Christ. He attended Haughton High School and played football. After graduation, he received his Bachelor of Science from Louisiana Tech and began a career in the labor union. He later became President of UFCW and Barbers & Beauticians Union. He and his wife, Donna are longtime members of First Baptist Haughton where Buddy served as a deacon.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Leo and Christine Gardner Christ and grandparents, Clara and Leo Christ.

Buddy is survived by his wife, Donna Christ; sons, Jeff Christ (Mitzi) and Jason Christ; grandchildren, Thatcher Christ and Lola Christ; brother, Tom Christ (Peggy) and sister, Betty Laskowski; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Lee Hale, Clint Dickerson, Carson Dickerson, Jody Staton, Royce Green, and Cotton O'Neal.

The family would like to thank Paul "Corky" Davis, Amanda Lewis NP, First Baptist Haughton, Becky Lord's Sunday School Class and all those who prayed and comforted the family.
