

Samuel Wade Peeples, age 80, of Minden, Louisiana, passed away on Monday, February 2, 2026, at Meadowview Nursing Home in Minden, Louisiana. Sam was born on January 28, 1946, in Minden to Clinton Warren Peeples and Florence Auro Tilley Peeples Bailey. He served in the Homer National Guard and was a loyal Army Reserve veteran, a printsetter, and above all, a very talented musician.
He is survived by his older brother, William Douglas Peeples and wife, Fane; and his sisters, Sharon Peeples Simmons and Celeste Peeples Lewis, as well as cousins and multiple nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clinton Warren Peeples and Florence Auro Tilley Peeples Bailey, and his brothers-in-law, Jimmy Davis Simmons and Curtis Jackson Lewis, Sr.
Sam, affectionately known as “Sambo,” will be remembered for his love of music and his amazing stories. Whether he was telling tales of a superhighway, buried treasure, or entertaining others while playing the piano, Sam always knew how to captivate an audience. He also deeply loved his dog, Annie, who faithfully walked beside him wherever he went.
A celebration of life will be held at Mount Mariah Cemetery in Athens, Louisiana, on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at 2:00 p.m.
The family would like to thank Mrs. Gladys Walker for her love and support while caring for Sam at home. They also extend their gratitude to the staff at the VA Medical Center and Meadowview Nursing Home for their compassionate care.
