May 11, 2018 at 1:38 a.m., our amazing mother heard the call of Jesus. She entered Heaven just in time to celebrate Mother’s Day with her Mom and daughter.

Eighteen months she fought the fight, stayed the course and has claimed the prize. She was surrounded by a host of girls who loved her to the deepest depths. Her life will be celebrated at 2 p.m. on May 14,. at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, Haughton, Louisiana. Officiating will be Reverend Dave Fortuna, retired Methodist Minister and family friend. A visitation hour will precede the service from 1:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Hill Crest.

Born in Purvis, Mississippi to Christian and Julia Elliott on August 10, 1928, she was the youngest daughter of five siblings. Preceding her in death were her parents, her siblings, the love of her life, husband, Charles Peyton Nelson and her beloved daughter, Sheila Nelson Moffett. Bill Moffett and Jim McLeod have also passed.

She is survived by her daughter, Pam Beck (Gil) and six grandchildren. The McLeod’s, Brad (Grace), Kyle (Meredith) and Hayley and Sarah Austin (Mark), Bryan Beck (Jana) and Emily Douglas (Jared). In addition, eleven shining stars, great grands Makayla Henry, Madison and Mallorie Smith, Peyton, Bailey Jack and Knox Beck, Caroline and Lincoln Douglas, Madilyn and Trey Austin and Betsy McLeod. Surviving her as well special nieces, nephews and wonderful dear friends from her survivors. She was an active lifelong member of First Baptist Vivian before moving to Bossier, La. She loved Jesus and was sure she shared Him with you.

Sarah, an anointed nurse and health care professional worked at P&S Hospital ICU with her best friend, Cheryl Richard, Drs Joe and Alice Holoubek at North Caddo Memorial Hospital and ended her career at 78 years old at Lagniappe Hospital, now The Promise. Her love for nursing, safety, infectious control and environmental services led her to write several Joint Commission Manuals and was recognized for her works.

Pallbearers will be Gil Beck, Bryan and Peyton Beck, Jared Douglas, Brad and Kyle McLeod and Mark Austin.

We are extremely grateful for the care and friendship of the entire staff at Dr. Ted Warren’s office. Doris Williams, our angel, we could not have walked this journey without you. Finally, thankful for the care, love and knowledge to Hayley, Makayla, Madison and Malloire – you are truly the hands and feet of Jesus.

Our lives crossed many years ago when my husband left to serve our country in Vietnam. You and Charles were so kind to me and my son Jim. We were treated as family and until today consider your family as ours also. Our love goes out to you, our precious Pam. I know Jesus has Sarah safely in his arms......
