A Celebration of life service for Sharon Kirkland will be held at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Associate Pastor of First Baptist Church of Bossier, Ky Faciane will be officiating the service. The family will be receiving friends on Friday, May 18, 2012 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Hill Crest Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park.

Sharon was a member of First Baptist Bossier. She enjoyed fishing, shopping and spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Darwin and Pearl Goldsmith and grandson, Cade Kirkland.

Sharon is survived by her husband, John Kirkland, daughter, Melissa Adcock and husband Daryl; sons, Jason Kirkland and wife Carol, son, Bobby Kirkland; sister, Carolyn Hauck, brother, Butch Goldsmith, grandchildren, Kenzie Adcock, Emily Kirkland and Benton Kirkland; nieces, Kelley Hauck and Lisa Adcock, nephew, David Goldsmith and numerous other nieces, nephews, relatives and close friends.

Pallbearers will be Chris Ward, David Goldsmith, Cameron Goldsmith, Bobby Mowry, Matt Robertson, William Upchurch, Jerry Hauck and John Ophille. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Herriage and Blue Bundy.

Memorials may be made in Sharon’s honor to Christus Schumpert Cancer Center, Shreveport, LA.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to her Health Care nurse, Tammy, to her ABC family and all who helped during this difficult time.

Melissa and family, Your mother put up a couragous battle and it was so she could be with her loving family. I have been out of town and did not know of her passing. She was a good friend to all that knew her. Rest in peace, Sharon and enjoy God's new mansion in the heavens. Gloria Whitaker

Sharon was a beautiful woman inside and out. I will miss our phone conversations while watching "Dancing w/the Stars". Well, Sharon you are now dancing your own dance with God and the stars. May the special memories of Sharon help her family heal. I will miss you lady.

Our thoughts and Prayers are with you baby, you were her whole life and such a precious sweet daughter. Sharon was very Special to us as my precious sister-in-law and friend,we shared lots of really special memories and great times together. John, Melissa and Family, Sharon was so special and she will be missed. She can now rest with God and the angels. I am sorry I will not be able to attend the visitation or funeral. I am out of town and won't be back till Sunday. I pray that the Lord will wrap his arms around you and give you comfort during this difficult time. Our love and prayers go out to you and the family.
