Sheila Mary Ford
January 6, 1935 – November 15, 2021
A Celebration of Life service will be held for Sheila Ford on Sunday, November 21, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Hill Crest Memorial Park in Haughton. The family will conduct a private burial service for immediate family and friends.
Sheila Ford, 86, our wonderful Mother and homemaker, died peacefully in her sleep late into the night of November 14th at The Chateaus at Montclair Park Assisted Living and Memory Care in Shreveport after an extended illness. A Bewsey girl at heart, she was born and raised in Warrington, England where she grew up during World War II and shared many memories of air raid shelters, food rationing, and British resolve against a formidable foe while also lightheartedly describing the colorful characters living on her street. In time she met and married Hershel Ford in 1952 while he was assigned to Burtonwood Air Base, England. In a letter to his sister, Audrey, our Dad described Mother as a beautiful young lady with the bluest eyes he had ever seen. He also wrote about her charming, friendly personality as well as her love of dancing. Years later after our Dad retired from the Air Force, our Mother enjoyed working at the Barksdale commissary in marketing as part of the British invasion which was beloved by commissary patrons. Another enjoyable part of her life was spent watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren play soccer in Louisiana and Virginia.
Survivors include her children, Mike Ford and Rosemary Hitchens; her grandchildren, Patrick, Eric, Allison Calantone, Malayna Martin, Jessica, and Jimmy; and her great-grandchildren, Connor, Logan, Kaitlyn, Everett, Scout, Cooper, Ava and Archie. She was predeceased by her husband, Hershel; and her son, John; her brothers, Jim and Peter Walsh as well as her sisters, Mary Trevino and Josie Singleton.
Many thanks to Southern Care Hospice (Brenda, Kinsey, and Amber) for their loving care and service. A very special thanks to the staff at The Chateaus (Willie Mae, Cynthia, Lorraine and Kim) for their thoughtful and ever-present support to help our Mother through the last phase of her life with dignity and grace.

I believe your mom was walking and walking until she finally found your dad. Now they are both together with the others of our family and having one heck of a reunion. We were lucky to have such wonderful memories!!
Prayers and love.
