

For 40 years, Shirley served as a registered nurse, caring for patients in the NICU, Newborn Nursery, and later providing compassionate Home Health care.
Shirley was the oldest of three siblings that grew up on a rural midwest farm. After graduation from Nemaha High School, she received her diploma degree in Nursing from University of Nebraska Methodist Hospital. She married Edwin Ledbetter January 12, 1958, started a family, and then transferred to Barksdale and remained in Bossier City for the rest of her life. She retired in 1996 and volunteered at a local elementary school. She was instrumental in starting the Fellowship Learning Center. Shirley was very involved in the Methodist church and especially the United Methodist Women's Group. She was a devoted christian woman that lived her life according to her faith.
Shirley is survived by two daughters, Jeannine Breaux, husband, Mark and Carol Martin, husband, Kevin; grandchildren, Ashley Bryant, Joseph Breaux, Deanna Hamby, Caleb Breaux, Chris Martin, Brooke Meyer, and Katie Wynn along with 13 great grandchildren and one on the way.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin L. Ledbetter; parents, Clyde and Hazel Keithley; brothers, Darrel Keithley and Claren Keithley.
Pallbearers will be Joseph Breaux, Caleb Breaux, Jason Bryant, Tim Wynn, Joseph Meyer, and Chris Martin.
A visitation for Shirley will be held Monday, October 20, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home, 601 Hwy 80 E., Haughton, Louisiana 71037. A celebration of life will be Tuesday, October 21, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Fellowship United Methodist Church, 4750 Barksdale Blvd., Bossier City, Louisiana 71112. Burial will follow at Bistineau Baptist Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Fellowship United Methodist Church, Fellowship Learning Center, or a charity of choice.
