A celebration of her life will begin with a gathering of family and friends at 1:30 PM, Thursday, February 27th with a Graveside Funeral Service immediately following at 2:30 PM, with Robert Payne presiding and Shane Nugent, assisting. Each service is being held within Hill Crest Memorial Park, Haughton, LA.
Shirley was born on Monday, August 29, 1955 at Barksdale Air Force Base, LA to Woodrow and Delma Perry. Raised in Bossier City, Shirley attended Bossier High School and enjoyed all subjects and was a member of the National Honor Society and on the School Newspaper staff. Following in her father’s footsteps, Shirley enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. Upon her honorable discharge, she obtained her Bachelor’s Degree from LSU-Shreveport, along with an Associates of Administration from Louisiana Vocational Tech, Shreveport. Shirley went on to have a very fulfilling and successful 28 year career at LSU-Health Science Center, Shreveport where she was in Administration within the Medical Billing Department.
Shirley was preceded in death by: father, Woodrow N. Perry; mother, Delma Marie Mullins Perry; uncle, Carlos Mullins; and aunt, Frankie Mullins Thrash.
Left to cherish her memories are: brother, Roger (& wife Lorie), nephews: Robert Perry, J.D. Upshaw, Isaiah Murry, and Isaac Murry; niece, Misty Upshaw; grand-nephew, Jason Perry; and grand-niece, Kelly Perry.
The family would like to thank all of Shirley’s caregivers at Southern Oaks Nursing and Rehabilitation center for all they did to aid and love her these last several years of her life, and all the committed team of Doctors, Nurses, and staff, of LSU Medical Center.
We will all miss her.
