

Shirley graduated from Fairview High School in 1952 and went on to work for Aetna Insurance, bringing steady dedication and care to her work and to those around her.
A woman of deep faith and quiet strength, Shirley remained involved in church and carried herself with a gracious, steadfast spirit. She expressed her creativity through oil painting, and she also possessed a disciplined focus as a marksman—interests that reflected both an artistic eye and a composed determination.
Shirley loved her country deeply and was proud of her roots in the Bible Belt, holding close a sincere patriotism that shaped the way she viewed community, duty, and gratitude. She also had a great love for her beloved dog of 14 years, Bella, whose companionship brought comfort and joy.
She is survived by her grandson, Justin Swaty and wife Sheina; brother-in-law, Mike Swaty and wife Carolyn; sister-in-law, Lou McManus Bass. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, W.R. Swaty; son, Clint Swaty; mother, Pearl McManus; father, Frank McManus; brothers, Hugh McManus; and sister, Betty Elliott Leamons.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 2026 at 10:00 am. Celebration of Life will follow at 11:00 am with interment at Hill Crest Memorial Park.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff of Willis Knighton Bossier with a special thank you to, Ebony Leftridge, RN, Dr. Chanal and Dr. Verani.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Children's Hospital.
