

HAUGHTON, LA – Services for Shelton John “S.J.” Sheffield Jr., 88, will be held on Saturday October 20, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel with Brother Darrell Cooper officiating. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park. The family will be receiving visitors from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday October 19, 2012 at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home.
S.J. was born on August 14, 1924 in Ringgold, Louisiana to Shelton and Cora Sheffield Sr. and went to be in the arms of the Lord on October 17, 2012 in Bossier City surrounded by his family. S.J. was a proud American serving in the United States Coast Guard during WW II. After the war, S.J. went to work as a plumber gaining his license in two years and was a proud member of Local 141 Plumbers and Pipefitters Union.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 62 years Eloyce Long Sheffield; brothers, Lexie B. Sheffield and Billy Joe Sheffield.
S.J. is survived by his sons, John Sheldon Sheffield Sr. and wife Jeannie, Charles “Bubba” Sheffield and wife Tina; daughters, Eloyce “Jeannie” McClung, Gay Ganey and husband Keith, Charlotte Milam and husband Keith; sister, Ida Logan; 12 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Honoring S.J. as pallbearers will be his grandsons, Sheldon Sheffield, Robby McClung, Bryan Slawson, Dan Nevels, Kyle Milam, and Justin Shaw. Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Crow, Keith Milam and Keith Ganey.
The family would like to extend thanks to physician’s assistant Tommy Robinson, the doctors, nurses, and C.N.A.s of Promise Hospital of Bossier for their loving and compassionate care of S.J.
