Sylvia was born in Panama City, FL on February 10, 1943 and most recently resided in Haughton, LA until her peaceful passing on June 22, 2022. Sylvia was raised in Spartanburg, SC and joined the Air Force following her graduation from high school. After boot camp, destiny intervened and brought Sylvia and Cliff together. Each had orders to be stationed elsewhere; however, through a series of events, they both found themselves stationed in Mt. Clemons, MI. Ironically, Cliff was her superior officer and that was the source of quite a few laughs over the years. Sylvia and Cliff were married May 28, 1963 and began their life together. They welcomed their daughter, Kim, into the world a few years later and made so many beautiful memories together as a family. Although Sylvia eventually left the Air Force, Cliff remained and together they were stationed across the globe with Kim in tow.
Sylvia wore many hats in both her personal and professional life. Perhaps the one that brought her the most joy was Grandmama. The question always arises, “What will the grandchildren call you?” After much thought, Sylvia concluded that she was in fact the “Grand” mother. The name completely fit because she was grand in everything she was and everything she did. She loved her grandchildren fiercely and was their biggest cheerleader and confidant. She adored her great-grandchildren as well and cherished her time with them.
Sylvia was forever the optimist and always found the silver lining. She was ready with an open ear and solid advice for any and every occasion. Her quick wit and sense of humor could lighten even the darkest of times. Her family loved her dearly and she will be greatly missed by all who loved and cared for her.
Sylvia is preceded in death by her father, Branson Hall; mother, Norma Barnhill; sister, Lydia Shows; and sister-in-law, Rita Hall.
She is survived by her loving husband, Clifford Humble; daughter, Kim Williams and husband Paul; granddaughter, Ashley Murphy and partner Matt Ducharme; grandson, Matt Murphy and wife Jackie; granddaughter, Hailey Williams; great-grandchildren, Jackson Murphy and Ella Ducharme; and brother, Tommy Hall as well as many extended family and friends.
