Tandy, fondly known as Mac, was born on September 2, 1947, in Delhi, Louisiana to Abbie and Tandy McElwee. Mac grew up in Central Louisiana, the product of two educators and became an academic scholar himself. He graduated Valedictorian from Natchitoches Central High school class of 1965. He then attended Northwestern State University obtaining a bachelor's degree in Pre-Medicine. He was a proud member of the 1st graduating class of 1973 from Louisiana State University Medical School in Shreveport.
Afterwards, he started a private OBGYN medical practice in Bossier City with his longtime business partner Dr. Timothy Hart. Mac was a beloved physician who adored his patients for over 30 years before retiring. He had the pleasure of delivering thousands of newborns during his many years in practice. He always made each woman feel special and appreciated. Most importantly, he always loved to tell a good joke and to make people laugh and feel comfortable during any situation.
Mac is survived by his wife Ava; his sons Scott (Conchita) McElwee of New Orleans; Weston McElwee of Shreveport with their mother, Mary Beth Tucker. Son, John Christopher (Lenore) McFerren of San Diego, CA and Daughter, Michelle M. Brown of Bossier City.
