SHREVEPORT, LA – Teresa Lynn Hays Pietz succumbed to the ravages of Type 1, Brittle Diabetes. She had confronted this horrible disease for almost twenty years spending the last five years daily fighting to stay alive. She lost the battle on March 26, 2012.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Mullins Hays, brother, John L. Hays, Jr., grandparents Hank and Dorothy Mullins, and Roy and Grace Hays. Left to cherish her memory are her husband Richard Pietz, father and stepmother John Hays, Sr. and Ellen Hays, stepchildren, Dawn Farnell, Brad Pietz (Peggy), Richard J. Pietz, stepsisters, Tracy Jones (Chris), Lynne Garner(Scott), Holly Harrison, stepbrother Peter Harrison (Janiece), sister in law Darlene Hays, nieces, April Chase (Wesley), Autumn Hays, Kelly Burnley (Chris), nephew Kris Baxter and special aunt Margaret Drake.
Born in Huntington, WV on Christmas Day, 1956 Terri spent her early years as an Air Force brat traveling the world and settling in Bossier in 1975. In her working life she was administrative assistant to the chair of the anesthesiology department at LSU Medical Center prior to her medical retirement in 2002.
Services will be held at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel on Friday, March 30, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Murry Hodge officiating. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park. The visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until service time. Special thanks to Terri’s longtime physician, Dr. James Jackson, and the ICU staff at Willis Knighton North.
Pallbearers will be Mel Lee, Kris Baxter, Wesley Chase, Peter Harrison, Brad Pietz and Larry Simmons.
Terri was fun-loving, feisty, tenacious, stubborn, and loved her family. A bright light has just burned out.
