October 26, 1946 – February 27, 2026
Tom was an extraordinary man. The lives he touched through his love, actions and words will always be remembered. He loved the Louisiana lifestyle of faith, family, food and sport and engaged with it at every opportunity.
Tom never met a stranger, and if you were, he’d make you a friend by the next time around. His smile and enthusiasm brought calm and comfort in any circumstance.
He was a man who respected all for whom they were and was always eager to help anyone in need. On Friday evening, February 27, Tom went to heaven after complications from his chemotherapy treatment for prostate cancer.
Tom was born on October 26, 1946, in New Orleans, Louisiana to Bob and Patricia Jordan. He loved to talk about sports from his time growing up in Louisiana to moving to New Jersey where his father was Vice President with Shell Oil.
He, especially, enjoyed watching the likes of Micky Mantle and other legendary players of the Yankees.
Tom loved to play all the sports growing up, but his first love was baseball. After moving back to New Orleans, Tom went to Ramsey and Behrman High School in New Orleans graduating in 1965.
Tom attended Louisiana Tech University where he earned his bachelor’s degree in business.
While attending university, Tom was a proud member of Sigma Nu Fraternity and intramural athlete in several sports.
He made many life-time friendships while there and often reminisced of the great times he had as a Bulldog.
After college, Tom was drafted into the U.S. Army, First Calvary Division, where he served two tours in Vietnam.
While serving, he held specialties such as Platoon Sergeant, Drill Sergeant and Sniper earning a Purple Heart, one Army Commendation Medal and two Bronze Stars for Valor.
He was proud of his service and a patriot to all that knew him.
After an honorable discharge from the military, Tom began his first job in finance as a lender out of New Orleans.
After marrying Peggy Chetta on July 7th, 1970, he moved to Shreveport, Louisiana to build a career in the car sale industry with Yokem Toyota as a finance manager.
He later moved to Winningham Nissan/Volvo in the car sales division as their new and used car manager and then back to Yokem Toyota again as their online marketing manager.
At one point in his career, he was Top 10 in the United States for car sales. Tom had fond memories of his time in the car business and all the wonderful men and women he came across. From dealership softball games to holiday events, he was always a fixture that was present and involved.
In adult life, Tom spent his time with family, faith and community. He was a proud member of Trinity Heights Baptist and later at First Baptist Bossier. During his membership, he served as a deacon, greeter, teacher to youth and adults alike and became a staple at all church functions.
He was also a dixie league and all-star baseball coach for many years to the local youth. His impact, as a mentor and coach, to youth across Caddo Parish still lives on today.
Family events and holidays were his favorite. He made a point to attend his grandkid’s events at every turn. If he missed something, he wanted in-game updates or, at least, a recap of everything that had occurred.
Tom was a family man and made his family a priority at every opportunity.
Tom is survived by his wife: Peggy Jordan; his sons: Kevin Jordan, Jason Jordan and wife Jami Jordan; his grandchildren: Mila, James and Dallas Jordan; his sister: Kim Davis; his nephew: Jeff Davis and wife Michelle; and his niece: Melanie Davis. He also leaves behind many extended family and church family members that he loved and found life-long relationships with. Tom is preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Patricia Jordan.
