Mr. Rascoe had a happy heart and zest for life. He had an easy smile, quick wit and loved to laugh and wanted everyone to have a good time. He never met a stranger and never missed a chance to invite someone to church. He was a paint and remodeling contractor and took great pride in learning new techniques. He played fast pitch softball and had a mean curve. He was also a member of the Shreveport Metropolitan Concert Band for 19 years, playing Trombone.
He loved to fish, ski and spending many weekends camping on area lakes with family and friends. He spent many winters in Colorado and New Mexico, skiing. Traveling to car shows in his motor home with his grandkids was a big thrill for him.
Sonny collected antique cars and was very knowledgeable in all makes and models. He was a member of several car clubs, locally and nationally, including Ark-La-Tex Antique Club, Red River Cities Corvette Club, Mustang Club and Early Bird Club. He was a past president of the Louisiana and International Pentecostal Campers Club for several years.
Mr. Rascoe’s first love was his church. He was a member of the First United Pentecostal Church of Bossier City since 1953. He directed the orchestra there for many years, loving and mentoring many young musicians that later entered the ministry. He enjoyed teaching the Boy’s Sunday School Class and taking them on camping trips. He was always ready to lend a hand in maintaining the church property and was instrumental in the design and construction of the First Pentecostal Church of Bossier City, working many late night hours.
