I did not know Mr. Statham for long, I volunteer at the veterans home, and it was a pleasure to be around him.  He always had a smile, always pleasant and very friendly,,, I envy the family having such a wonderful person in their lives.

Uncle Preston was always by favorite uncle. One of my favorite memories of him is when he came to my house in third grade to celebrate "our" birthday with a pool party. You know he was special! What other man would come out on his own birthday in 100 degree weather around a bunch of little kids to celebrate his own birthday? I will always carry the sound of his voice with me saying "honey" to Aunt Ta! I cherish the book I have in my possession that he spent so many years of time gathering information and researching - "The Baughman Family Tree" thank you Uncle Preston for showing me my past.

i remember ms. mary statham being my bus driver when i was a little girl!!!   miss her and sorry for your loss of her husband!!

Mr. Preston was a wonderful room mate at the war veterans home for Bob Minter.  He was caring and thoughtful and always cheerful.   When I brought my grandchildren to see Bob they loved seeing Mr. Preston and hugging his neck.  Please know that Bob and I cared for Mr. Preston and are praying for you.     Callie Minter Sexton.

To Mr. Preston's family-

You are in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. My Uncle Bob, was Mr. Preston's roommate at the Veterans Home. He was such a great roommate to my uncle and a pleasure to be around. My children, who are 4 just loved him and he was always so kind and good to them. They will miss seeing him on their weekly visit! He will be greatly missed. I know that Bob misses him already. Prayers continue for your family.

Uncle Preston was always one of the sweetest men I knew.  As a kid my mom & dad would go over there to play cards.  Uncle Preston would always make these potatoes for me because he knew I loved them. Papaw would also take me over there alot & while he & Aunt Ta played backgammon, Uncle Preston would show me his latest findings on the family tree.  It was always refreshing to talk with him. He was always so soft spoken and sweet. I'm so grateful that I got to be around such a great person.  Remembering him will help me to be kind in my ways, like he always was.

Uncle Preston was always a great part of our childhood, along with his Brothers and Sisters. My Mom always loved them like they were her own siblings, He was an awesome man and will be greatly missed!

Uncle Preston was always full of smiles as i grew up.....we moved away when i was young but always remembered going to Uncle Prestons and Aunt Taye's and playing with Kevin.as everyone playied cards.....i love you and you will truly be missed......

We've lost a great man, and we will miss him. Preston always had a smile, a twinkle in his eye, and a good story to tell. We will treasure the memories.

What a wonderful and loving man he was.  My thoughts and prayers are with his family.  He will certainly be missed.  I know that Uncle Preston and Aunt Ta are both smiling now as they are back toether again.  They were always one of my favotires couples!

 One of the nicest gentleman there ever was, remembering all the  good  times at shuffleboard and the  dances at VFW 4588  ,Prayers go to the family ,his loved ones and friends which he had lots of. God Bless!!

The Final Salute

“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another. 

This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to ThomasPreston Statham  our “Brother-in-Arms”.   To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Preston.   And to Preston it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the devoted and selfless service he rendered to his country while serving in the U.S. Armed Forces.  Preston, you are a true patriot, who served with honor and distinction.  You upheld the finest qualities of an American patriot warrior: courage, commitment, generosity, sacrifice, love and devotion to family and country.  We bid you a sad farewell.  You will be dearly missed from among our ranks.  Be at Ease.  Rest in Peace.
