

Shreveport, LA – Memorial services celebrating the life of Wafford Earl Dilliard will be held at 1:00 on Wednesday December 31, 2014 at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel. Officiating will be Dr. Tom Harrison of Broadmoor Baptist Church of Shreveport, LA. The family will be receiving friends from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at the funeral home.
Wafford was born on June 27, 1946 in Somerville, TN to Murta Wafford Dilliard and Arthur Lean Houston Dilliard. Wafford passed away unexpectedly on December 25, 2014 at Willis-Knighton Pierremont Hospital in Shreveport, LA. Wafford graduated from Fayette County High School and attended Memphis State University. He served in the artillery division of the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1972.
Wafford was a successful Insurance Agent and served in the insurance industry for over 42 years, spanning from The Hartford, Alexander & Alexander-Houston, AIG, and Fireman’s Fund. He was currently employed at Reeves, Coon, and Funderburg Insurance Agency, Shreveport Branch. He also served on the Board of the Independent Insurance Agents Association of Shreveport.
Wafford was a member of the Steadfast Class at Broadmoor Baptist Church in Shreveport, LA. He was a very generous, kind hearted, Christian man who loved his Lord, Family, and Morning Devotionals. His grandchildren, Ethan and Emma, were the light in his eyes and the love in his heart.
Being from Tennessee, he was an avid Vol’s fan, but did enjoy a good LSU game when they were not playing Tennessee. He loved to spend time with the family, cook, garden, and raise his orchids. He and Debbie enjoyed life together both at home and work.
Wafford was preceded in death by his Father, Murta Wafford Dilliard. He is survived by his Mother, Arthur Lean Dilliard of Collierville, TN, his loving Wife, Debbie Langton Dilliard of Shreveport, his Brother, Ronnie Dilliard and wife Kathy of Collierville, TN, Sister-in-laws Pam Feazel Durr, Lynn Higginbotham and husband Karl, Daughter Crystal Collier Reiser and husband Robert of Huffman, TX, Step-son, Eric Lummus and wife Kasey of McDonough, GA, Step-daughter Julie Lummus and fiancé Jeff Boutwell of Shreveport, LA, two grandchildren Ethan and Emma Reiser of Huffman, TX, Nephew, Mark Dilliard and a host of other close family members and friends.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Todd Walker, Gabe Meiki, Bobby Hatchett, Robert Stevens, Randall Stevens, and Allen Smith.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any donations be made to St. Jude’s, The Alzheimer Foundation, or the Charity of Your Choice.
