William "Bill" J. Lane

William "Bill" J. Lane, age 92, of Haughton, Louisiana passed away on Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at Overton Brooks VA Medical Center, Shreveport, Louisiana. Bill was born in Omaha, Nebraska, on Sunday, November 27, 1932 to the late Myron E. and Rose L. Pearce Lane.

Bill was a long time member of First Baptist Church Haughton, where he enjoyed fellowship and praising his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He served this grateful nation by enlisting in the United States Air Force, and serving until retirement. Bill, his sons, and his grandchildren account for over one hundred years of military service - testament of a commitment fostered to the end and a legacy that continues today.

Bill obtained his Masters in Education, using his degree for seventeen years in elementary education and administration.

He was a life time member of Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 30 where he served as Louisiana State Commander in 1994.

Bill also held lifetime memberships with the following organizations the American Legion, the VFW, the Bossier Parish Sheriff Posse, the National Rifle Association, the Retired Officers Association, and the American Society of Notaries.

Bill was preceded in passing by his parents; his first wife, Barbara Jean Lane; one son, Michael Dean Lane; two sisters: Patricia Schneble, and Shirley Lane.

Left to cherish Bill's memory will be his beloved wife, Betty Lou Lane; four sons: Ricky K. Lane (Betty), Ronny G. Lane (Lisa), Terry M. Lane (Kay), Steve M. Lane (Toni), one sister, Lois Chapman; eleven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; along with many extended family members and numerous wonderful friends.

The family will be welcoming guests for visitation on Sunday, November 2, 2025, from 4:00PM to 7:00PM at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home, 601 Hwy 80, Haughton, Louisiana 71037.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday, November 3, 2025, at 10:00 AM in the Chapel of Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home with Dr. Gevan Spinney officiating.

Interment will immediately follow on the grounds of Hill Crest Memorial Park, 601 Hwy 80, Haughton, Louisiana, 71037.

Honoring Bill as pallbearers will be John Bamburg, Brooks Wilson, Randy Lane, T Michael Lane, Jr., William Lane, Stephen Pfadenhauer, and Nathanael Flader. Honorary Pallbearers will be the members of Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 30, and the Haughton McDonalds coffee gang.

The family would like to express their sincerest gratitude to the medical staff of Overton Brooks VA Medical Center, our church family and friends for all of the professional care, friendships, prayers and condolences expressed during this great time of grief.
