BOSSIER CITY LA – Services for Willie J. Tollison, 80, will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Stockwell Road Missionary Baptist Church with Pastors Jason Hebert and Lane Moore officiating. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at Stockwell Road Missionary Baptist Church.
Willie was born on June 28, 1932 in Spartanburg South Carolina to the parents of James and Clara Tolleson, and went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, November 28, 2012, surrounded by his family.
Willie was awarded the Purple Heart Medal while serving at Siagon in Vietnam. He proudly served in the United States Air Force for 21 years, retiring at Barksdale Air Force Base. After retirement Willie went to work for and retired from Coca-Cola in Shreveport. In his spare time he loved to spend time with his family, fish and work in his garden along with his faithful companion Buddy Boy. He especially loved to grow tomatoes and cucumbers and always had enough to give away to friends and family members. Willie was a faithful member of Waller Baptist Church. He loved to watch football and was an avid Cowboys fan.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Eugene and Tillman Tolleson; a sister, Barbara Petty.
Willie is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Shirley Foster Tollison; son, Billy Wayne Tollison and wife Becky; daughter, Debbie McCain and husband Sammie; sisters, Annette Sanders and husband Joe, Diana Gwinn, Joan McAbee and husband Jimmy; Grandchildren, Jamie McCain and wife Shelley, Jenifer Ward and husband Josh, Savannah Snyder and husband James, Susanne Martin and husband Robert, Caroline Glenn and husband Alex. He also leaves behind 9 great grandchildren and numerous friends and family.
The family would like to extend thanks to the staff of the Northwest Louisiana War Veterans home for their support and loving care of Willie.
