Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mr. Winfred “Mac” Harold McDaniel, 81, will be conducted at First Baptist Church of Haughton, on Saturday, January 2, 2021, at 10:00 a.m., officiated by Dr. Gevan Spinney. Interment will follow in Hill Crest Memorial Park. There will be a brief visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. prior to the service.
"Mac" McDaniel was born on January 7, 1939, in Wiergate, TX to parents, William Robert and Rachel Hamlet McDaniel and passed away on December 29, 2020.
Mr. McDaniel is preceded in death by his parents, W.R. “Dub” McDaniel and wife Rachel.
He is survived by the love of his life of 57 years Fran; brother, Ray McDaniel and wife Ann of Carthage, TX; sister, Pat Brent and husband Bob of New Braunfels, TX; sons, Mike McDaniel and wife Susan of St. Francisville, LA and Brian McDaniel and wife Amanda of Haughton, LA.; grandchildren, Sarah McDaniel Freeman and husband Chad, Patrick McDaniel, Brian McDaniel Jr., Josh McDaniel and wife Shayna, Bradley McDaniel, and Madison McDaniel.
Mac served 6 years in the US Navy on the USS Jonas Ingram DD-938 as an electronics technician. He worked days without rest to insure Jonas Ingram’s electronic systems were kept operable. Mac worked for Siemans Medical Systems on linear accelerators (cancer machines) which he was very proud of until he retired to spend precious time with his wife.
He loved his church so much. He and Fran worked diligently in any way possible, volunteering for anything that they could do. Visitation was their gift, they always made any person feel welcomed at FBC Haughton. When life had him at home with his wife, he still filled bags for the Minuteman ministry.
Mac loved all of his grandchildren so much and was so excited that this year 2 of them were married. He was the BEST Paw Paw!
Thank you to all of his doctors and nurses for taking such good care of him the last few months. Thank you church family for loving our Father, Husband, and Paw Paw.
