She is survived by her children Mitchell Barry (Laura) Weiss, Wendy Weiss (Bryan) Eder, Brad David (Nicole) Weiss, and Evan Jay (Allana) Weiss; and grandchildren Emily Weiss, Dylan Weiss, Stevie Weiss, Jordyn Weiss, Sophie Eder, Josie Eder and granddog Manny Weiss. Anita is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Harry “Sonny” Weiss, her brother Philip Theodore Klotz, and her parents, Eleanor and Harry Klotz.
Anita and her family lived on Grant Avenue and the Grand Concourse in the Bronx, where her family also operated a diner. Although she grew up and worked in the Bronx, she met her beloved husband on the beach one fateful day in Rye, NY and it was Westchester County where they ultimately moved to and raised their four children.
Anita was known throughout the Mount Vernon community, working as a real estate broker and serving as past President of the Pasadena Park - Elmsmere Civic Association. Her real estate career spanned Westchester County over four decades. During her successful tenure at numerous realty offices, she also won many accolades including initially joining the Million Dollar Club for selling over three million dollars of listings in 1979, Sales Associate of the Month on six separate occasions over the span of five years, and membership in the International Diamond Society. In addition, Anita was also an avid gardener — a skill she learned from her mother; a collector of antiques - a passion she shared with her husband; and an avid bridge player — a hobby she used to make and stay connected with friends.
Anita adored her lifelong friends, many of whom started out as real estate clients and colleagues. Of those, many became like family to her, her children, and grandchildren. Anita was probably best known for striking up conversations with anyone and everyone she met, telling stories about the exploits and adventures of her children and grandchildren. She was loved deeply and will be dearly missed.
