

Dr. Barnett Myron Miller of Mt. Vernon and Riverdale NY, passed away on July 23, 2025 at the age of 95, surrounded by his family. Dr. Miller was born in Jersey City, New Jersey to Anna (Kook) Miller and Lippman Miller on March 28, 1930. From a young age, Barnett was a gifted and dearly loved child, the only grandson for 17 years. He attended P.S. 34 and Henry Snyder High School in Jersey City, after which he received his undergraduate degree from Columbia University in New York City. He rowed crew and was captain of the Columbia team during his senior year. He followed his undergraduate work with an MD from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He completed a surgical residency, including a chief residency, followed by a pediatric surgery fellowship. A military veteran, Barnett served as a captain in the United States Army under the Berry Plan, stationed in Frankfurt Germany. He served as Chief of Pediatric Surgery at the Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center during his long career, where he performed countless life-saving surgeries for newborns and children. He was also a gifted teacher, training surgical residents and medical students. He married his beloved wife Marcia Weinberger of Cleveland Ohio in 1967 and they recently celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary. Barnett had a long life enriched by art, music and travel with his family. He was respected by all he knew for his intelligence, gentle strength and integrity. He is survived by his wife, Marcia Miller, his son Jeff Miller (Jane Seo) and daughter Lesley Miller Hutchinson (Richard Hutchinson) and his sister Lenore D. Miller as well as his grandsons Will Hutchinson, Alec Hutchinson and Loewy Miller.
A graveside cemetery service will be held at Mt. Moriah Cemetery Jewish, located at 685 Fairview Ave, Fairview, NJ, 07022, US. The service is scheduled for July 25, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:30 am.
