There are few people who can be thought of as Brave.
Hathy Worth was that person.
She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1991 and made the choice to fight not only or herself but for her family and those close to her. She made this same choice in 2000 and again in 2009.
Through her strength of will she gained the years to see her sons, David and Matthew, grow up from boys to successful men. She gained a wonderful daughter in Pam.
She saw the birth of her grandson and enjoyed every moment spent with him. Nothing would stop her from going to family events including her sons or nieces wedding. Even extreme discomfort didn’t stop her from attending Thanksgiving this year. She would not go quietly into the night.
That is a brave person. She fought every day. Every day was a battle and still she still managed a smile, wink, or thumbs up.
She was a daughter who supported and sacrificed for her Mom. She was a sister who loved without question, She was an aunt who cared and worried, She was a mother who would do anything for her boys, she was a wife – companion – life partner and to all that knew her she was a friend and confidant. She loved and was loved by those that came into her life.
I can only hope to be as brave. We will miss her with all our hearts and we thank God she is in a place where there is no more need to be brave. She may be at peace.
