Monte Almer was born on May 14, 1950 in Brooklyn NY. He was the first child born to Sam and Shirley Almer and was joined two years later by his sister, Renée. Monte was an excellent student growing up, and particularly always excelled at math. He went on to study at Stony Brook University and pursued a career in actuarial science. Monte had a long career in the field, culminating in his role as the President of the New York State Insurance Rating Board for 23 years until his retirement in 2016. Monte was an avid Mets fan and passed on his love to his children and grandchildren. He loved crossword puzzles, anything to do with TV/movies, and was a trivia buff. He is survived by his devoted wife of 48 years, Nisa, his 3 loving children, Erica (Stephen), Genine (Oscar), and Traci (Josh) and his four beautiful grandchildren: Daniela, Aiden, Nathaniel, and Sadie; his loving sister Renee, and niece Mindie (Dave) and great nieces Spencer, Piper, and great nephew Beau.
Monte was loved by so many, and even those he only met a few times knew what a special and kind person he was. He will forever be loved and forever be missed.
