Nissim S. Hamou

Born on February 1, 1950, in Israel, Nissim was the beloved son of the late James and Suzanne Hamou.

He is survived by his loving wife, Amalia (“Amhie”) Hamou; his 6 children, Danielle Franklin and her husband Thomas (“Tom”), Ivan Hamou, Adam Hamou and his wife Carrie, Christopher Roberts and his fiancée Conni, Fresca Hamou, and Ellia (“Soleil”) Hamou.

He is also survived by his seven beloved grandchildren: Faith Catron, 31; Evan Hamou, 24; Andrew Hamou, 24; Aidan Hamou, 22; Alyssa Hamou, 19; Royce Vitolla, 9; and Hailey Hamou, 3.

Nissim is also survived by his brother, Fred Hamou and his wife Grace; his sister, Esther Maimran and her husband Shlomi; and was preceded in death by his brother Daniel Hamou. He also leaves behind his extended family, including Sally Mussafi and her children, Jacob and Emily Maimran, as well as Nicole Vanduzee whom he loved as a daughter. He will also be deeply missed by his many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends, all of whom held a special place in his heart.

In 1968, at the age of 18, Nissim came to the United States to begin a new chapter in his life. An entrepreneur at heart with remarkable drive and vision, he built a career through hard work, determination, and perseverance. Throughout his life, he owned and operated several successful businesses, including Side by Side Pizza & Bagels in the Bronx, Bella Vista Optics with locations in the Bronx and Manhattan, a rustic furniture store in Las Vegas, and an interior design business. Later, he also found success with ACN in New Jersey. No matter the venture, he approached every opportunity with confidence, ambition, and an unwavering work ethic.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Nissim was known for embracing life to the fullest. He was free-spirited and spontaneous, with a gift for making people laugh and telling unforgettable stories. Charismatic and persuasive, he never hesitated to try something new and inspired those around him to do the same.

A lifelong athlete, Nissim enjoyed playing tennis and soccer and remained passionate about staying active throughout his life. He was also a devoted car enthusiast with an appreciation for style, always impeccably dressed and never afraid to stand out. An avid world traveler, he embraced new cultures and experiences with curiosity and enthusiasm, believing that life was meant to be lived in the moment.

His legacy of resilience, love, laughter, and living life without hesitation will continue through his family, his many friends, and all those whose lives he touched. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered. Those who knew him will always remember his warmth, his unmistakable sense of humor, and his remarkable ability to make every moment count.
