Richard Jackel

Richard Jackel, age 84, passed away on Thursday, August 14, 2025. He was born in The Bronx, NY, to Harry and Harriet Jackel. Richard earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Vermont and Master's degrees from NYU and Manhattan College.

He served as a social studies teacher at JHS141 and as an assistant principal at JHS 143, both in The Bronx.

He raised his children in Tappan, NY. Following retirement, he enjoyed international travel and spending time with many dear friends.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Francine Jackel, treasured children, Jeffrey (Laurie) Jackel and Andrew (Deb) Jackel, stepson Ian (Deborah Garrido) Plitnick and sister Lenore Jackel Egan.

He was also a proud grandfather to Miranda Jackel and Jacob and Levi Plitnick.

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, August 17th at 1pm at

Riverside Memorial Chapel (Hawthorne) located at

100 Saw Mill River Road, Hawthorne, NY 10532.

Following the funeral service, a committal service will take place at Sharon Gardens Cemetery, 273 Lakeview Ave, Valhalla, NY 10595.
