She was born on December 13,1942 in Brooklyn, NY. She grew up in the Bronx, Yonkers and then Hastings on Hudson, NY. And for the last 53 years, she lived in Thornwood, NY.
She met the love of her life Howard Shaller on a ski trip in 1963. They were married in October of 1965 – and they just celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary.
Sandra is predeceased by her parents Ruth and Lawrence Larrabee.
She is survived by her husband Howard, her 3 daughters, Karen, Susan (David), and Lauren (Michael) and her 3 grandchildren, Adam, Kayla and Piper. She is also survived by her brother Hugh Keith.
As a young woman Sandra worked for Newsweek Magazine. Later on she designed and taught needlepoint and was even a “Tupperware Lady”. She then worked for many years as an Administrative Assistant for a group home for the developmentally disabled.
Her favorite pastime was collecting her treasures, which we affectionately referred to as her ‘Chatchkes’. Sandra loved to play Scrabble, Mahjong and Solitaire. And, she always loved a good Hallmark Romance when she wasn’t watching her favorite gameshows; Let’s Make a Deal and The Price is Right.
She was warm and kind and had a great sense of humor. She loved family gatherings and spending time with her grandkids and their dogs (which she always referred to as her “furry grandchildren”).
Sandra had many titles. She was a loving, caring and devoted daughter, wife, sister, mother, grandma, aunt and friend. She will always be in our hearts. May her memory be a blessing.
A funeral service will be held at Riverside Memorial Chapel-Hawthorne, located at 100 Saw Mill River Rd, Hawthorne, NY, 10532, United States. The service is scheduled for December 9, 2025, from 12:00 pm to 12:45 pm.
