Sylvia Garfunkel

Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband Jack D. Garfunkel, her former husband Nathan Pinson, father of her daughters, sister Malka Ratnoff (Rose), and parents Simon and Rachel (Rae) Rose (Levine). She is survived by beloved daughters Janet Pinson, Bonnie Sacco (Pinson) and granddaughter Gabrielle Sacco.

Her work as a bookkeeper for a travel agency lead to her becoming a travel agent. This opened many enriching opportunities to explore the world and help others to also experience this pleasure.

Carrying on her mother's devotion to charity work, Sylvia was very active in Sinai Free Synagogue in MT Vernon, NY. She implemented a successful grocery store coupon fundraiser some years ago that continues to this day.

A wonderful tribute to Sylvia would be a donation to a charity of your choice and/or to pass along an act of kindness.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, February 14th at 1pm at Mt. Hope Cemetery,

Hastings-on-Hudson with a celebration of life to be planned for a later date.

Sylvia's love of friends and family, especially in her extended Levine clan, brought her great joy. Slowed down by a stroke at age 84, Sylvia's indomitable spirit and radiant smile could not be subdued.
