

Britta Marie Holland was born February 23, 1922 in Linkoping, Sweden the daughter of Axel and Martha Carlson. At the age of three Britta came to the States with her family. Her parents settled in Illinois and then moved to the Twin Lakes area near Hayward, WI. Britta worked at a YMCA camp for a few years. On May 10, 1956 Britta was joined in marriage to Carroll Holland in Pine City, MN. Together they operated a dairy farm in the Phipps area. She worked for Northland Evergreen in her later years as a roper. She was a member of the Ladies VFW Auxiliary and volunteered as a 4H leader. She served on the fair board for Sawyer County. Britta was an accomplished crafter and enjoyed making quilts, rugs and doilies.
Britta is survived by her three children, Robert “Dutch” (Grace) Holland, Lois (Richard) Miller, and Alfred Zahler all of Hayward, WI; five grandchildren, Cathy Miller, Joseph Miller, Carrol “Bud” Holland, Emily Michelle Holland, and Shanna Madson; one great grandchild, Sean Hunter Holland; two brothers, Bert (Nola) Carlson, Arnold (Gayle) Carlson, both of Hayward; two sisters, Ruth Vana of Hayward, WI, Thelma (Russel) Anderson of Lombard, IL; and several nieces and nephews.
Britta was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alfred Zahler; husband, Carroll Holland; and three brothers, Arnie, Lennart and Henry Carlson.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 24, at Anderson-Nathan-Koerpel Funeral Home in Hayward with Andy Wittwer officiating. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday evening and from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday morning at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Hayward.
Casket bearers will be Greg Carlson, Bruce Emery, Keith Emery, Eugene Holland, Steve Miles and Stanley Strand.
